On 29 March about 20 of us took our first steps towards the creation of a new willow garden and orchard. The windy wet weather was ideal for the live willow planting and under the guidance of artist Angie Baker and garden designer Dan Shea a wavy willow screen was planted, and large bed cleared of old and overgrown shrubs ready for the garden redesign and orchard planting. Next sessions are Sat 18 April 2pm and Sun 7 March midday. On 18 April the session will be followed by our AGM 5.30pm – 6.30pm in Chestnuts Community Centre.  All welcome to join us. Drinks and refreshments provided. Watch this space for AGM agenda and papers.

Friends of Chestnuts Park looking at the site for the new outdoor gym. Work starts in the next few weeks on installing 9 items of equipment in a triangle at the north east corner of the former pavilion site. (The rest of the site is being sown with grass this week, and the heras fencing will come down in a few months as soon as it’s grown and is sturdy enough to walk on). Come to our events on Sun 29 March midday, Sat 18 April at 2pm and Sun 7 June at midday (Big Lunch event) and help celebrate these improvements and make the new Friends Willow Garden.
